Abacus Maths Challenge
The ABACUS Maths Challenge was be held on Saturday the 17th of June 2pm to 4pm at the Community Central Hall in Maryhill (292-316 Maryhill Rd, Glasgow G20 7YE)
All the students, whether they are Friday class students or Saturday class students (both 11 to 1pm and 2 to 4pm ) were required to come at 2 pm on 17th June and attended their usual class from 2 to 3pm. Maths challenge was from 3 to 3.30pm followed by award ceremony at the same time.
All this was consist of following time table
2 to 3pm – usual class
3 to 3.30 – Maths Challenge
3.30 – 4pm – Marking and awards
Students came there 15 minutes earlier that day and we started the challenge on time.
Challenge was consisting of the level kids have completed so far and marked based on both speed and accuracy. It consist of ABACUS tool, Finger theory and Mental Theory questions.
Every group’s top winner was awarded with £25, runner up was awarded with £15 and a second runner up was awarded with £10 along with a certificate and a trophy.
We tried to keep it as fair as possible and there were three invigilators in each group to mark and make sure no one is copying or cheating. Results were declared same day and price distribution was on the same day afterwards the Challenge.
