Our 11+ Courses
Year 3 /P2
- Our Year 3 course covers English and Mathematics.
- The course aims to raise children above the expected level at school in numeracy and literacy and thereby help support admission to the Year 4 course
- The course promotes core skills including reading so that students absorb the topics thoroughly and overcome any weak areas.
Year 4 /P3
- Our Year 4 course covers English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning and will help promote and solidify core skills in numeracy, literacy, vocabulary and reading comprehension, so that students have a solid foundation for entry to Year 5 and thereby reduce the stress and the burden of preparation during Year 5.
- We cover the National Curriculum for Maths and English and work beyond to a higher standard.
Year 5 / P4
- Our Year 5 course covers English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning and will fully prepare children in all subjects and the relevant exam boards for their target schools.
- The Year 5 course is an intense programme suited for students excelling at school and accustomed to academic work outside of school homework.
Year 6 / P5
- This course is an extension of our Year 5 programme for those sitting for Independent schools.
- Therefore, those targeting the Independent schools must enrol in Year 5 and Year 6. The core course covers Advanced Mathematics, English and Creative Writing, Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning.
- This is a challenging course so external students will only be accepted if they meet the level of our existing Year 5 cohort.
What is the 11+ Exam?
The 11+ exam or Grammar School or Private School is an elective exam usually taken at the start of Year 6, usually in September. The content varies in different parts of the country. However, it will usually be based on some or all of the following topics:
The 11+ exam has two main exam boards:
GL (Granada Learning) Research (formerly NFER) administers 11+ exams for most grammar schools in Berkshire, Bexley, Birmingham, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Kent, Shropshire, Walsall, Warwickshire, Wirral, Wolverhampton.

- Subjects : English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning.
- Each school can choose any combination of these that best fits their selection criteria.
CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring) is developed by the Assessment Monitoring Center at Durham University, the 11+ exam is administered for Cumbria, Dorset, Lancashire, Medway, Northern Ireland and Wiltshire.
